What you must know about
pool surrounds/coping (edge) tiles & waterlines
Pools are a stunning edition to any home and are beautiful when lined with a waterline tile sequence and a coping tile to cap the edge of the pool. Glass mosaics or feature tiles are often run as a band around the inside edge of a pool to create a waterline.
The designs for pool surrounds have evolved considerably over the past decade. Contemporary choices are leading the market whereas in the past, terracotta and concrete paving was the trend.
Natural stone such as travertine, is also a popular choice and comes in a bullnose edge. Travertine comes in various sizes ranging from: 600mm x 600mm, 300mm x 600mm or 450mm x 450mm.
Another choice for pool surrounds is vitrified/glazed porcelain tiles. These can be rounded/honed to be used on a pool edge/coping or a step to create a smooth finish. When choosing to tile an entire pool surround or entertainment area, often a unified look can be achieved by choosing the same tile type.
